چکیده
Karyotypic analyses have several applications in studies of chromosome organization, evolution, and cytotaxonomy. They are also essential to genome assembly projects. Here, we present for the first time karyotype description endangered species yellow cardinal, Gubernatrix cristata (Passeriformes, Thraupidae), using conventional staining with Giemsa 18S rDNA probes. This has 78 chromosomes, 12 pairs macrochromosomes 27 microchromosome pairs. The clusters were found four microchromosomes. Our results revealed that G. a typical avian (approximately 80 chromosomes). However, an apomorphic state relation distribution since ancestral condition corresponds only two microchromosomes these sequences. Probably, duplications translocations responsible increasing number cristata. compared discussed respect other Thraupidae Passeriformes members. Considering globally threatened status cristata, believe its could be starting point future cytogenetics sequencing

The recent discovery of a new species of land iguana in the Galapagos (Tzika et al. 2008; Gentile et al. 2009; Gentile & Snell 2009) is indeed an exciting novelty, of great interest to all zoologists and evolutionary biologists. This species being apparently represented only by a very small population with a very limited range, it was described as a new taxon following an unusual procedure: no ...

The Endangered Species Act of 1973 has challenged scientists perhaps more than any other legislation. In response, the scope of wildlife biology has been redefined and expanded, adaptive management has evolved into a population recovery technique, population viability analysis and other problem solving methods are being developed, and the very definition of a biological species is being reexami...
